THINGS TO BE CAREFUL OF WHEN APPLYING FOR CANADIAN VISA
There are always ads in newspapers and online where agencies promise and ‘guarantee’ visa and job in Canada. However, one should always be careful of such things and some important things need to be remembered when applying for visa to Canada.
1. No local agency will guarantee you a job in Canada; this is something provided by firms in Canada, unless the local firms have divisions in Canada, they will not guarantee any jobs or work.
2. Travel and study consultants cannot issue visa to you, this is done only by Canadian embassies, high commissions and consulates. The consultants can only forward your case/application to the authorities, the final decision lies with them.
3. According to official policy, Canadian immigration officers cannot:
• ask you to deposit money into a personal bank account,
• ask you to transfer money through private money transfer service,
• offer special deals to people who want to immigrate or
• use free email services, such as Hotmail or Yahoo Mail for official communications
4. The details given on an agency website or newspaper ad may have things like 'guarantee visa' or 'no IELTS or TOEFL', 'job in Canada'. Do not believe these claims and always consult the official Canadian government embassy sites for correct information on everything.
Another important thing to remember is to always have correct information on your documents, as any wrong or false in legal documents can be considered as a crime and can lead to ban on travel to Canada for up to 5 years and even have citizenship removed. Documents include visa documents, passport, certificates (birth, marriage, legal, educational etc.). Thus it is important to have the correct paperwork and also be careful of any fraud based activity. One should always consult the official government authorities about any matter related to travel and immigration.
